The Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) program is a legal pathway to work in Japan in various labor shortage sectors. It provides skilled foreign workers with an opportunity to build a career in Japan with long-term prospects.

Requirements
To apply for an SSW visa, you must meet the following criteria:

Language Requirement:
Pass at least JLPT N4 (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) or equivalent language test. -
Skill Certification:
Pass the designated skill test for the selected category. -
Education Requirement:
Must have completed SSC (Secondary School Certificate) or HSC (Higher Secondary Certificate)
Visa Duration

Type 1 (SSW-1):
Valid for 5 years. Initially, workers under this category cannot bring family members. -
Type 2 (SSW-2):
After completing Type 1 and gaining experience, the visa can be extended for another 5 years.
At this stage, you are allowed to bring your spouse and children to Japan.
